Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) is a diagnostic method used to detect mechanical deformation inside transformer windings and cores. SFRA testing can identify movement caused by transportation, short circuits, mechanical stress, or fault currents.

SFRA analyzers such as the Mini-WDT comply with IEC 60076-18 standards and are widely used for transformer condition assessment in substations and power utilities.

Excitation current testing measures the magnetizing current required to energize the transformer core. Abnormal excitation current results may indicate core damage, winding faults, insulation deterioration, or magnetic imbalance.

Advanced transformer analyzers can combine excitation current testing with ratio measurement and winding diagnostics to improve testing efficiency.

Tan delta testing, also called dissipation factor testing, evaluates transformer insulation quality by measuring dielectric losses under AC voltage. High tan delta values may indicate insulation aging, moisture contamination, or internal deterioration.
